David James Brock's suite of poems "More than Earthy Meat and Drink" from Ten-Headed Alien has been set to music by Adam Sherkin and will accompany his Write Off the Keyboard Mainstage concert on April 5.
From the event description:
Highlighting the unduly neglected vocal music of Franz Liszt, rising star soprano Adanya Dunn joins Sherkin on stage in a performance of three songs by Liszt, as complement to the world premiere of a new song cycle, More than Earthly Meat and Drink setting the poetry of David James Brock. A Canadian playwright, poet and librettist based in Toronto, Brock has been featured as guest artist and collaborator during this season's WRITE OFF THE KEYBOARD Series. His newest book of poetry, Ten-Headed Alien, (from which the song cycle More than Earthly Meat and Drink is taken), launches this May (Wolsak and Wynn Ltd).
Copies of Adam Sherkin's new recording Soliloquy and Brock's Ten-Headed Alien will be available at this concert.
